Instructions to authors

Submission

Authors should submit final versions of full articles in electronic format on a floppy disk, zip, CD-ROM or attached email document.

All contributions should be in English. If English is not your native language, please have it checked by a native speaker.

Submissions may be sent by electronic mail to sp2004-editor@lpl.univ-aix.fr or by postal mail to:

Paper format

The page size should be set to A4 (210 x 297mm). The paper must be no longer than four (4) pages. It may be shorter, but should then include trailing blank pages for a total of 4 pages.

We encourage submitting papers with a URL pointing at a web page containing additional visual/sound/textual information on the specific topic of the paper. Part of this material may later be included on the CD-ROM (see below).

File format

Documents should be submitted in PDF format.

Authors should make sure that the file they submit will be properly displayed on a computer monitor, and on paper print-outs. To this effect, please keep in mind the following:

Authors who face difficulties with PDF file compatibility may submit their paper in PostScript format with all fonts included.

Audiovisual material

Sound examples in MP3 format may be enclosed for the CD version of the acts. We may also accept short video sequences in QuickTime format. Please contact sp2004-editor@lpl.univ-aix.fr to discuss file formats and sizes. (Under the current budget situation, we cannot guarantee the inclusion of audiovisual material to the CD version of the acts. Final decision will be done later.)

Formatting instructions

Templates are provided in MS-Word and LaTeX formats (see below) to facilitate setting up the layout. A PDF version of the sample document is available for visual check. (Click this link to downlad the PDF file and display it with Acrobat Reader.) An equivalent PostScript version is also available (two files: : "tmpl_sp2004(1).ps" and "tmpl_sp2004(2).ps").

If your word processor does not make it possible to use any of the supplied templates, please follow the detailed instructions for the presentation of your paper. These instructions are also summarised in the templates. Before sending your paper, it is a good idea to make sure that font sizes in the headings, etc., are compliant with the detailed instructions.

MS Word template

If your paper will be typeset using MS Word, save this link to download the template.
You may need to click the right button of the mouse and select "Save this link as..."

The template is named "tmpl_sp2004.dot". Drag it to the folder containing templates near the MS-Word application. Then create a new file based on this template.
To do this, restart MS-Word and select "Project Gallery" in the "File" menu. A dialog window will be displayed. Select "Word documents" in the "Show" popup menu. The currently available templates will be displayed. Click "tmpl_sp2004.dot".

If you have problems using this template with your version of MS Word, you might create your paper modifying the sample document in RTF format (save this link).

LaTeX template

If your paper will be typeset using LaTeX, please download the template package "latex.zip" that produces the proper format.

In the package, you will find the following files:
